Doctor's Formulas Doctor's Formulas Memoprotect Food Supplements for Memory Enhancement, 30caps

The food supplementMemoprotect by Doctor's Formulas, thanks to its specialized composition, contributes to thenormal functioning of the nervous system and normal mental function.

Our brain is made up of at least 100 billion nerve cells or neurons with connections that connect over 100 trillion points. It is a "forest" of neurons. Signals travel through the "forest" of neurons to form the basis of memories, thoughts and emotions.

As we grow and develop these neurons connect to each other and we communicate with millions of connections. Through neurons and these connections we remember and control our movements. Memory is how we store and we recall things we felt, learned, or experienced.

There are two types of memory: recent and stored.

Every memory we have, even this that we "lost" produce physical changes in the brain. Memories are formed and stored in many areas of the brain, but the most active and essential area is the hippocampus, an area deep in the center of the brain, which is like a small seahorse.

Memory in the hippocampus area allows us to recognize and distinguish between old friends and new acquaintances or find a way around an area.It also helps us understand and try new experiences based on old ones.

The hippocampus is at the heart of the ability to assimilate new information and integrate it into what is already known. As we experience and learn new events, cells in memory centers tighten and strengthen connections of neurons known as synapses. The ability of brain cells to quickly form new synapses and remove old ones is referred to as neurological plasticity. A large number of synapses and a very dense structure of special synaptic structures called "buttons" favor the rapid development and processing of information that stored by the connected cells.

Essentially, neurological plasticity is the physical equivalent of learning while synaptic density is roughly the equivalent of memory.

Young brains exhibit high levels of neurological plasticity that produce large numbers of interconnected synapses. This is why young people learn quickly and have strong stored memories. As we grow older the number of synapses and the ability to quickly form new ones steadily declines. And this, of course, is normal aging. People with alzheimer's or its precursor, mild cognitive impairment, experience a more rapid loss of both plasticity and the number of synapses. And this happens when memories begin to fade or even worse when they are lost altogether.

How does the retaining memories?

Although memory loss can start sooner, the first signs of it begin to appear after the age of 40. At this age most people start to forget things, or faces, or situations and this is not an effect of aging but an early sign of mental decline. Aging affects brain anatomy and physiology. After forty the gray matter shrinks. Every decade the brain steadily loses some brain cells called neurons and some of the surrounding cerebrospinal fluid.

Neurons begin to lose some of their firing power and neuronal connections are short-circuited by plaque deposition, breaking down the insulating layer that covers them as well as the aforementioned loss of cerebrospinal fluid. It is important to note that memories remain stored even when the ability to access them declines.

Memory function begins with the reception of information where an independent nerve cell it “moves” signals like a tiny electrical charge. Nerve cells connect to each other at synapses.

When a charge approaches a synapse, it will cause the release, via of tiny bursts, of chemicals called neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters travel along the synapse, carrying signals to other cells. There are dozens of neurotransmitters. But there are basically three types of neurotransmitters that can be classified according to their chemical composition or molecular structure: monoamines, amino acids and the neuropeptides.

Acetylcholine was the first neurotransmitter to be discovered. It was isolated in 1921 by a German biologist named Otto Loewi, who would later win the Nobel Prize for his work. Acetylcholine has many functions: It is responsible for much of the stimulation of muscles, including the muscles of the gastrointestinal tract.

Acetylcholine's role in the CNS appears to be related to learning and memory. Acetylcholine is released in the brain during learning. and is critical to the acquisition of new memories. Its role is to facilitate the activity of NMDA receptors, proteins that control the strength of connections between nerve cells in the brain. Acetylcholine pathways in the brain represent areas where there are high concentrations of neurotransmitters, as it also includes the cholinergic nerves that help transmit signals that mediate this. These pathways involved usually terminate or pass through the cortex and hippocampus, areas of the brain involved in attention, learning and memory.

Acetylcholine is synthesized in nerve cells that make up the cholinergic pathway and especially where they are located in the basal forebrain. Some neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease, involve damage to the cells that produce acetylcholine in the basal forebrain. Acetylcholine is vital for thinking, memory and sleep, and is also involved in the control of movement. Not surprisingly, the production of acetylcholine decreases with age, resulting in poor memory, reduced learning ability and cognitive impairment. impairment in general.

The neurotransmitter is produced from choline and acetyl CoA in a reaction catalyzed by the enzyme, choline acetyltransferase.

Citicholine is a bioavailable form of choline that is absorbed in intestine and is rapidly broken down into cytidine and free choline. Both components cross the blood barrier to the brain. The brain has an insatiable appetite for choline. There are two main reasons for the brain's enormous need for this nutrient: choline is necessary for the synthesis of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, but also needed for the construction and maintenance of brain cell membranes. Choline is also important for building healthy cell membranes. Like phosphatidylcholine, it makes up one-third of cell membrane phospholipids.< /p>

Even for the production of acetylcholine, an important cofactor, vitamin B5, is required. Pantothenic acid is converted in our body to Pantethine, which in turn serves as a substrate for the synthesis of coenzyme A (CoA).< /p>

CoA improves brain function by promoting the synthesis of acetylcholine. Memory loss, includes degeneration of the hippocampus which is an area important for the production of acetylcholine. Acetyl-L-carnitine has also been shown to increase in hippocampus the binding of glucocorticoids and nerve growth factors. Even homotaurine appears to have a neuroprotective effect on the structure of the hippocampus and mild cognitive impairment.

Its relative neuroprotective effect is due to its specific anti-amyloid activity and in affinity with the γ-aminobutyric acid type A receptor. Its effects depend on changes in cortical GABA transmission suggesting its role in improving cholinergic transmission by modulating cortical inhibitory activity.
