Pain is one of the usual reasons for seeking of medical care and immediate relief, while it is often associated with limitations in mobility and daily activities and with a reduction in the quality of life.

In Greece, people with rheumatic diseases amount to approximately 3,000,000 people. In the entire adult Greek population, 13% suffer from OA and 2% from inflammatory rheumatic diseases.

The existing treatments do not always sufficiently cover the basic needs of these patients such as Satisfactory analgesic effect and reduction of inflammation and stiffness.

In the adult population, the use of NSAIDs is widespread and in fact 70% of people over the age of 65 use NSAIDs at least once a week. However, the use of NSAIDs carries a significant risk of serious gastrointestinal, cardiovascular and renal side effects.

Libytec pharmaceutical has developed PEAforce  an innovative combination designed specifically to effectively and safely meet the needs of patients with pain such as in musculoskeletal diseases, OA, PA.

The combination of its contained ingredients is unique and can offer a strong analgesic, neuroprotective chondroprotective and anti-inflammatory effect and action on the endocannabinoid system. PEAforce contains PEA ( Palmitoylethanolamide) 300mg, Boswellia Serrata 60mg, Curcuma longa radix 95% 100mg, Magnesium 100mg, Piper nigrum 95% 10mg, Vitamin B1 1.1mg Vitamin B2 1.4mg Vitamin B6 1.4mg Vitamin B12 2.5mcg, L-cysteine 100mg.

Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) is an endogenous lipid mediator that acts on the endocannabinoid system by directly or indirectly targeting different metabolic pathways. Administration of PEA may be beneficial in pain and inflammation.

It has been shown to have neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic properties. Often in people with chronic disorders, the body does not produce enough PEA, which creates problems.

A big advantage of PEA is that it is a safe, non-addictive substance that does not mask pain, but targets in the removal of its cause. PEA can be taken by anyone suffering from painful disorders, even if they are taking medication, to enhance the effectiveness of the medications they are taking.

Curcumin is a molecule that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, healing properties. and antimicrobial actions. Unlike synthetic drugs, it acts on multiple inflammatory metabolic pathways to help the body return to a normal balance. In addition, curcumin has specialized and unique mechanisms of action that make it invaluable in treating painful conditions. Curcumin has been found to

  • Suppress NF-kB activation, preventing the enhancement of inflammation and of pain, as well as cartilage degradation
  • Inhibits the action of TNF, a main mediator of inflammation
  • Limits COX-2 and inhibits 5-LOX, enzymes responsible for inflammation

The result is that cartilage degradation is slowed down and that curcumin has a positive effect on the degenerative inflammatory process in the joints, which is seen in rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.

Piperine when combined with curcumin, increases its bioavailability by 2,000%.

Boswellic acids (BAAs) have an effect on various diseases such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. The most commonly used treatments for osteoarthritis include NSAIDs and pain relievers. Although these are an effective intervention, they do not affect the 5-LOX metabolic pathway.

Suppression of 5-LOX synthesis  of boswellic acids is considered to be the main mechanism for their anti-inflammatory action. The pharmacological action of AKBA includes

  • Anti-inflammatory action
  • Cartilage protective action
  • Anabolic effect on cartilage

The B vitamins are a class of water-soluble vitamins that play an important role in cell metabolism. They are important for maintaining normal neurological functions. A deficiency in B vitamins can cause pain and inflammation.

Magnesium plays an essential role in energy regulation and the functioning of the nervous and muscular systems. Low magnesium intake is associated with worsening pain and functionality and is considered an important risk factor for the development and progression of osteoarthritis.

L-cysteine is a major source of various antioxidants such as glutathione (GSH), peroxidase of glutathione, N-acetylcysteine (NAC) and α-lipoic acid.
