Fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS), are  a form of soluble carbohydrate, found in many vegetables, such as endives and onions.  When taken orally, they are only partially absorbed, as most of them  used as a nutrient substrate  for the development of the normal bacterial flora of the intestine (includes mainly the genera Bifidobacteria and Lactobacillus).

This results in the prebiotic effect of fructo-oligosaccharides, i.e. the growth of the bacteria of the normal intestinal flora and the reduction of pathogenic bacteria and fungi. The prebiotic function of FOS leads to the improvement of  intestinal tone, in the regulation of the peristaltic movements of the intestine and in the improvement of gastrointestinal disturbances due to intestinal dysfunction.

Nutritional  research has shown that the daily intake of 8g of FOS for a period of 2 weeks is accompanied by an increase in the number of bacteria of the normal intestinal flora (Prebiotic effect). More specifically, it is accompanied by a tenfold increase in Bifidobacteria, a threefold increase in Lactobacilli, while it also causes a simultaneous decrease in pathogenic microbes Bacteriodes.

It is suitable for all ages, including children and pregnant women, as well as and for people following a yeast-free diet, and for people under medication. It can be used for a long time.

Suitable for vegetarians 

Dosage: (1 spoon of sweet=5g)

Dissolve in hot drinks or mix with cereal. You can also get it from the spoon directly. Make sure you drink 2 liters of fluids a day

Storage: Store in a cool, dry environment and protect from light.

Allergies: None

Precautions: If any of the dosage regimens listed above cause increased gas production, then it is recommended to reduce the received dose and its gradual increase. Gas production is  product of the metabolism of the increasing number of intestinal flora bacteria and therefore a sign that   FOS  works.

Gradually and as long as the use of   FOS continues gas production will decreases as the new beneficial bacteria produced will absorb the gases. For dosages above 10g (or 5g in children): it is recommended to take the daily dose in 2 separate doses, (noon-evening), which helps to reduce the amount of gas produced. FOS  can cause temporary bloating. This is a temporary symptom, which gradually disappears  once your digestive system increases its activity. If the  bloating  continued for more than 3 days then  it is recommended to reduce the received dose of  FOS
